click here for contents ECHO HILL STUDIOS ARTIST: ANN KAHL COLOR PHOTOGRAPHS X I l l MESTA, CHIOS, GREECE ___________________ GITTA After having seen Pirgi several days before, Duke and I wanted to go again, and the lovely Gitta was happy to join us. This time we visited an even older town, the town of Mesta.       The square was just outside a very old church, which is off to the right in the photos. _______________________            It was quite dark inside, but the painted interior was very beautiful. _______________________            There's a little story to tell about the "Keeper of the Flame" I'll tell it to you in a few moments, on the next page, (continued) called "The Old Church" after we wander through the town a bit. _________________________       The earth surrounding the church is decorated not with tiles,which fooled me at first, but with small stones, using their natural colors. Later on the journey, I will show you a beach entirely of black stones. Maybe that's where some of these came from.
