click here for contents ECHO HILL STUDIOS ARTIST: ANN KAHL COLOR PHOTOGRAPHS X X I I I A GLIMPSE OF THE ISLAND _______________ VISITING A VERY SPECIAL WINERY The vineyards on Santorini are famous for the exquisite wine that comes from the grapes grown in this unique ancient volcanic soil. It is also expensive, and/or difficult to obtain outside of the island, as the island is small, so there is not a great deal of it. We were taken to a lovely vineyard where the winemaker was known to our host. Separated from the regular tourists, we were seated at a long wooden table and each poured a glass of the most exquisite wine I have ever tasted. I prefer Rhine wines as a rule, and my favorite in Piesporter, but this was indeed ambrosia.
