click here for contents ECHO HILL STUDIOS ARTIST: ANN KAHL X X I V COLOR PHOTOGRAPHS THE ISLAND OF SANTORINI CLIMBING THE HILL       We took the car most of the way up the mountain, but the path at the top was too narrow, so we got out and walked.            ME                              THE ROCK                              THE VIEW The view was magnificent, and the feeling was quite magical here on a topmost part of a tiny island in the middle of a vast sea.       THE ROAD DOWN                                             We had made this elevating excursion in order to visit a historical wonder of some kind at the very top, but it had closed a short time before. We didn't mind at all. Just getting there was wonderful enough. ______________________________ A MILE OR SO FARTHER ON       Passing a field, we stopped to admire a farmer just beginning to herd his mules. He was clearly flattered.       Just as he proudly got them all together, they flicked their tails and staged a small rebellion. Poor guy. We waved and drove on.
