click here for contents ECHO HILL STUDIOS ARTIST: ANN KAHL X X I COLOR PHOTOGRAPHS THE ISLAND OF SANTORINI, GREECE (a little bit of heaven) OUR COTTAGE              ABOVE THE PORCH      THE FRONT DOOR      INSIDE THE DOOR            INTO THE BEDROOM                    INTO THE KITCHEN            THE TABLE            THRU THE DOOR      OUR PORCH I felt deathly sick for a day during the week we spent in this lovely, little cottage, perched as it was, high above the caldera, in a jumbly, tiny town of white-washed white. I have never felt as much as though I had died and was now in heaven as I did during that brief illness. There were bronze curtain rods on the wall in front of me, forming a cross, with a window that gave me a view through the open door, and the blue caldera that stretched beyond. I barely opened my eyes for endless hours, but each time they opened for a moment, the vision was there. Then suddenly I was well, and the weakness itself seemed only a dream. The illness was less a time of discomfort than an ethereal visit to another world. I hope you will read my poem, "A Lunar Month in Greece."
